Nathan Brown
After experimenting with several instruments during his childhood and discovering that members of the opposite sex aren’t interested in guys who play baritone horn, Nathan decided to take up electric bass. He began playing seriously at the age of 15, and has been tearing up the Detroit & L.A. music scenes ever since with his distinct brand of intelligent, funky, jazz-infused bass.
Nathan has performed with some of the worlds most eminent artists in jazz, blues and soul including Alexander Zonjic, Bob James, Kirk Whalum, Earl Klugh, Kamau Kenyatta, Scott Wilkie, Randy Jacobs & The Boneshakers, Coco Montoya, Brian Simpson, Tom Browne, Missy Andersen, Patrick Yandall, Warren Hill, Brian Hughes and more.
Nathan can be heard holding down the bottom on recordings by Coco Montoya, The Boneshakers, Scott Wilkie, Kamau Kenyatta, Monette Marino, Burt Brion, Debora Galán, Patrick Yandall, Jason Weber, The I-10 Chronicles 1 & 2 (featuring Willie Nelson, Charlie Musslewhite, Joe Ely, Eliades Ochoa, Adam Duritz, Bill & Bonnie Hearne), Deborah Flores, Mariea Antoinette and others. He also has producer and arranger credits on recordings by Burt Brion, Under The Lake, Debora Flores, Norm Douglas and Julia Shaw.
As a part of the Coco Montoya Band since 2008, Nathan has traveled extensively, performing all over the U.S., Canada, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Russia, Norway, Poland, Brazil, Mexico, Australia and more.
