Skunk Manhattan is the Vocalist and Guitarist for the Austin-based, hard rock band A Good Rogering. Comprised of a wide variety of influences, Skunk, bassist Chef Bull R.D., and drummer Mr. Nub have gained regional and even international recognition with their eclectic live show and broad circulation of demos. Their music has been requested and distributed by fans in England, Australia, Japan, South America, and throughout the United States.
Released in 2010, the band’s debut EP, “Long Overdue,” has been well received by fans and press. Although set with an overall tone of pure hard rock, the EP offers listeners a taste of the band’s eccentric musical style from a cover of Bjork’s “Isobel” to a track in the fashion of a 1980’s TV theme song.
Aside from A Good Rogering, Skunk has performed and recorded with various groups including the hard rock band Quartershackle, who received early Grammy nominations for the 2009 single, “Lies”, and whose music has been featured on several compilation albums.
Skunk is also an experienced guitar and piano instructor and is involved in the “Grounded In Music” program, which provides underprivileged kids the opportunity to ‘make music’.
Since meeting Tony Guarriello, founder of Tregan Guitars, in July 2007, Skunk has proudly endorsed the instruments. He has been featured in both Guitar World and Guitar Player magazine with his Signature Shaman, modified to encompass the look and versatility that is integral to Skunk’s style and sound.
While performing at the Tregan booth at the 2009 Winter NAMM show, Skunk met founder of Tsunami cables, Keith Stickney, and was immediately impressed with the quality and design of Tsunami Cables. Skunk has endorsed the cables since and uses the black and white “Skunk Striped” design.
